The Orange County Register's 2011 Best of Orange County voted Doheny State Beach the "Best Camp Site" for the 18th consecutive year. As stated by the reporter, "Doheny offers guests a relaxing and clean beachfront location along with possibilities for adventure. The choices include biking, diving, fishing, kayaking or windsurfing." According to beach visitor Kim Jensen of Mission Viejo, "Doheny State Beach campgrounds are centrally located -- you get walking distance to the beach, music and restaurants, diverse shopping and beach-city life, convenient hiking and day trips nearby." Please bookmark this page for future reference.

Now, more than ever, your donations are urgently needed to support the DSBIA's interpretive programs. The centerpiece is the Visitor Center which is still in the process of being renovated. It houses a real-life tide pool, aquariums, and numerous wildlife displays of critters you might encounter at Doheny State Beach. Visit our Events Page for the full list of scheduled activities and events. |
The Summer 2011 DSBIA Newsletter is available for viewing and printing online. In this edition you can read about stingrays and how to treat their sting, The President's Message, program progress in 2011, more un/discovered sights at the Park, bike hikes from Doheny, tidbits and updates, and more. The photos themselves are worth the viewing. |

Cyclists young and old cruise through Doheny all the time, but many visitors prefer more extensive hikes on their own with more distance and destinations outside the park. Here are three flatland bike hikes for those who ride primarily for pleasure rather than as marathoners. Each starts in front of the snack stand. Be sure to take water, sunscreen, bike lock, a camera and, for your safety, a helmut. Enjoy! |
Pardon our dust! The Visitor Center is closed and is in the 2nd phase of a 3-phase renovation. We are currently fundraising to complete the remaining work on the Visitor Center and interior tide pool and aquariums. We invite you to click on the Donate button on this page to see how you can help. The Gift Store and Park Office have been relocated to the lifeguard headquarters on the beach adjacent to San Juan Creek. |
